The James M. Nichols Catalogue was engraved and printed by the famous New York wood block artist John W. Orr, the same printer who produced The Dietz & Company Illustrated Catalogue.

Available only from The Rushlight Club, the Nichols catalogue reprint contains 91 plates, with 75 plates in color. Having more images than the contemporary Dietz catalog, the Nichols catalogue is reputedly the finest of its kind to have survived intact.

Lamps, lanterns, burners, gas fixtures and accessories shown in this catalog clearly can be identified as being made by Tucker, J. C. Ives, Sandwich Glass and others of the period and as such, the illustrations tell the story of lighting generally available during the time frame of 1860-1870.

All images have been reprinted the same size as in the original catalogue. Shown here are some images from the catalogue. A portion of the the image on plate 91 (below) has been enlarged to show the high level of detail typical of the images in this catalogue reprint.
